Dr. Burns was invited to be a part of two Featured Feminist Scientific Symposia at the Association for Women in Psychology conference held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in March 2017.
Each year the Association for Women in Psychology and the Society for the Psychology of Women team up to organize a series of Featured Feminist Science Symposia Series at the AWP conference. The Featured Feminist Science Symposia Series at the AWP conference is meant to be a showcase for innovative, high quality research on important topics.
Dr. Burns first chaired a panel entitled “An exploration of current violence and aggression research with diverse youth.” Dr. Burns also presented her research which highlighted the role of gender, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation on bystander intervention in high school students. Lastly, Dr. Burns was asked to be a discussant on a second Featured Feminist Science Symposia entitled “Intersections of gender and IPV: Masculinity, rape myth acceptance, and bystander behavior.”
