Armed with a $3 million National Science Foundation grant, researchers are heading back to high school to encourage more women to pursue careers in physics.

Yesim Darici did not pursue a career in advocacy. She is a scientist – a theoretical and experimental physicist with expertise in transition metals and clean coal technology. Yet, Darici is a trailblazer for women in science. Today, she is also FIU’s leading advocate for women and gender issues as the director of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies.

On Wednesday, September 28th, the Center for Women's and Gender Studies hosted the first Women in STEM event. Women in STEM aims to create a united STEM faculty at FIU that will enable us to create resources that we can all utilize in order to connect with our community and to enact fund raising opportunities.
