She investigates star formation in small (dwarf) galaxies. Although current models explain how star formation occurs and propagates in large galaxies, these models fail for dwarf galaxies, which are the most numerous type of galaxy in the universe. Star formation in galaxies is how galaxies evolve over time, and thus studying star formation processes in dwarf galaxies helps us understand how the universe has evolved.
